After last nights results, the tables are taking shape and, unless there are some very unexpected late shocks, whoever we draw in the last 16 are going to be tough. That’s exactly how it should be, in theory the group winners are the best 8 sides in Europe.
All we have to do is beat one of them over 2 legs.
Then my friends, Cookies prediction of City becoming one of the 7 biggest clubs in Europe will finally have to be taken as such and not mere bravado.
Barca, Real, Milan, PSG… these are the Euro nights we used to dream of, now we have them, there is no room for fear.
Huge opportunity for the club to break into the elite group. There is no reason to believe we can’t do it. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Utd have all been regulars in the later rounds and we are every bit as strong as they ever were.

Are we the strongest attacking force… maybe not but we are up there and no-one we play will take that threat lightly.
They would much rather we play a defensive game than go at them with our gifted attacking players.
That is what we are best at, Pellagrini seems to recognise that (despite the set up at Chelsea) so we have a chance of progression and a decent one at that.

I know its early days yet with 2 games still to play in the group stages but……………………….
The three other English teams currently top their groups so if this remains the case, there are only four groups City’s opponents can come from.
Presuming City finish second, their most likely opponents look to be one of the following: Real Madrid, PSG, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona.
    Food for thought.

I’m not a huge admirer of Millwall fan Rod Liddle but his review of Svennis Pennis’s bookin the Sunday Rupe was masterly, not least the cartoon with the caption “They think it’s all legover– it is now”

    And http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/441572/News-Of-World-hacked-Sven-Goran-Eriksson-s-calls-then-told-sex-life-secrets
Clearly the Naughty Nordic omitted to shag Rebekah Brooks and paid the price.

You have to smile when the headlines are “News Of The World headlines shown to the jury included “Sven’s Secret Affair” and “Faria on Nancy: They haven’t had sex for a year.”

Faria on Nancy – didn’t know they were that way inclined. – but hey each to their own.!!

Balfers old fruit, you are in fact correct. Was she not ‘Kaf from the Caff’? And the mama of the dreadful Ian Beale?

  7. Valentino Azzurro: The Beast

He has probably put the exit note in Dzeko’s back pocket in the summer.

What a player he has turned out to be, portrayed as a bit of a lump with limited skill which is certainly not the case, lucky for us.

  9. Some really lovely footie played last night and even old Right Angle Ray was purring in the studio. “The best attacking force on the Planet” were his words I believe.

With that said I think that we would be remiss if we did not mention the contribution made by everyone’s favourite recipient of the white feather for cowardice in the wall. I though that Nazzer had an outstanding game last night and has become an vital and integral part of our front 4 forward line. This was the player we stole from Arse and this was the contribution that we have been anticipating for so long.

Now all that is needed is not to slip up to the Poyet Massive.

I must say I really like the style and swagger that Pellers is bringing to the club – the pace, the flicks, the touch-and-goes, the switching of wings last night were all out of the top drawer and the signing of The Beast of Beswick was a masterstroke (although presumably Trixie/Dixie had some role in that). Great to hear singing of ‘Feed the Beast…’ Demic looks a more-than-useful acquisition, though I would prefer to see Prince Vince back in his usual role.

On TV a lot was made of Kun’s pin-point pass for The Beast’s goal. But no one mentioned the quickness of Neggers in moving in for the kill, nor the wave of the arm indicating exactly where Kun should put it. Brilliant stuff.
